PM1: Highway Safety

There are five performance measures in the Highway Safety category related to the number of crashes, both resulting in fatal and/or serious injury, on the entire roadway network within the NFRMPO boundary. Data is collected from the Colorado Department of Revenue, refined by CDOT, and analyzed by NFRMPO staff. Targets for the Highway Safety category are adopted annually by the NFRMPO Planning Council.

The targets indicated below were set by CDOT in August 2021. Normally targets are set based on five-year averages for the performance period. Due to behavioral changed with the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent data quality issues, CDOT set targets for the 2018-2022 performance period based off 2019 actual numbers. The statewide targets were adopted by the NFRMPO Planning Council on February 3, 2022 with Resolution 2022-05.
